A Little Background ABOUT TROOP 32’S ‘FUN STUFF’ PROGRAM…..

Troop 32’s Mission:

To provide a quality, traditional values-oriented program for 10 ˝ - 18 year old Scouts.

Our Objective:

To develop character, citizenship and the personal fitness of our youth.

Organized and chartered initially in June, 1942, the troop is sponsored by the Men's Club of the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, IL. The troop, however, is non-denominational.

Our current membership includes 74 Boy Scouts and 41 registered adult members, including the trained Scoutmaster and 13 trained Assistant Scoutmasters. Parental involvement is the key to much of our success, which is evident in our strong committee.

A successful program may be measured in many ways. T-32’s accomplishments include:

  • Sixty years of fun, active Scouting. We are the longest continuously operating Troop in Arlington Heights, IL.
  • Attaining the B.S.A. national "Quality Unit Award" annually for over 20 years.
  • Receiving the North Wood District’s "Top Troop Award" for 3 straight years.
  • Receiving district awards for "Best Scout Week Window Display for 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999.
  • Conducting a community service project annually for over 26 years.
  • Starting a High Adventure program in 1976 which continues now with two exciting trips per year.

AND WE HAD FUN DOING IT!!!

a WORD ABOUT….

MONTHLY CAMP OUTS

are fun because all activities are outdoors. Four season camping! (Yes, winter too) We have several Okpik winter-camping-trained Leaders. Camp outs also give the Scouts the opportunity to work on Merit Badges while having a great time!

SUMMER CAMP

is a whole week of fun at Camp Napowan, crammed with things to do…like target shooting, swimming, archery, "blacksmithing" like the pioneers in Flintlock Village….things you don’t do normally on a troop camp out.

HIGH ADVENTURE TREKS

can get rough!! When our Scouts reach 13, have earned certain merit badges AND have attained "Star" rank (and they think their up to it), they may sign up for a special trek with older Scouts. Now, they have to put to use all that campout and summer camp "stuff".

How about backpacking on Isle Royale, or in the Shawnee Nation Forest, or the Monongahela National Forest, and don't forget the Land Between The Lakes…..or canoeing in the Quetico Boundary Waters for starters? Go for it!!!

SPECIAL PROJECTS

are fun too. These may range from Council and District events, like Scouting For Food and 1st Aid Meets…to Camp-O-Rees and Klondike Derbies…..to Service Projects for Arlington Heights or our church sponsor. Besides the fun, all of these teach our Scouts cooperation and give them a sense of community involvement.
